Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas Breaks Ground on Expansion at Nellis Air Force Base Campus

Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas (CASLV) celebrated a major milestone with a groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of its Nellis Air Force Base Campus. The project will increase the campus’s capacity by 700 student seats, enhancing access to high-quality education for military-connected families across Southern Nevada. The expansion will also add 50 jobs for educators and support staff.

The expansion reflects CASLV’s ongoing commitment to supporting the unique needs of military families, particularly those stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. With more than 20,000 military-connected children living in Southern Nevada, the additional capacity will help ensure greater educational stability and opportunity for students who often face frequent relocations and family separations due to military service.

Community leaders, state officials, and education partners joined CASLV leadership for remarks and participated in the ceremonial groundbreaking. Notable attendees included Nevada Lieutenant Governor Stavros Anthony; North Las Vegas Mayor Pamela Goynes-Brown; Attorney General Aaron Ford; Athletics Owner John Fisher; and Darryl Cobb, President of the Charter School Growth Fund.

“This expansion represents a significant investment in the future of our students and our military families,” said Dr. Ercan Aydogdu, CEO and Executive Director of Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas. “We are honored to serve those who serve our country by providing a stable, high-quality educational environment where their children can thrive. Today’s groundbreaking is not just about a new building, it’s about strengthening our commitment to a community that gives so much.”

The groundbreaking event was preceded by a “Purple Up” parade to kick off the Month of the Military Child, observed each April. The initiative encourages communities to wear purple as a symbol of support and appreciation for military children and the sacrifices they make.
