Clara Avenue, DeLand, FL.This free and open-to-the-public event commemorates the historic day when enslaved people in Florida were informed of their freedom—May 20, 1865, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. The museum's celebration provides an opportunity for the community to come together in reflection, remembrance, and joy.
