Carroll County Agricultural Scholarship Fund Seeks Student Applicants
Scholarship Preparing to Make 30th Annual Scholarship Awards
Annually, the Carroll Chamber of Commerce and the Carroll County Cattleman’s Association offer a scholarship opportunity to area students interested in pursuing an education in agriculture.“This scholarship fund is truly a joint effort which started 30 years ago with money from the sale of cattle donated to begin this fund. Since that time we’ve awarded scholarships annually, and held fundraisers through the Chamber to continue this scholarship program,” explains Sarah Foley, Program Director with the Carroll Chamber of Commerce.
Scholarship applications are now available from area guidance counselors, the Carroll Chamber of Commerce office and online at www.carrolliowa.com. Applicants must be planning to attend, or currently attending a post-secondary school and majoring in a field related to agriculture. Scholarships applicants must be residents of Carroll County, but do not need to attend high school in Carroll County. The deadline for all applications to be turned in is Wednesday, March 14. Recipient announcements will be made in April.
“Agriculture is vitally important to our community and Carroll County. This scholarship is one way we can assist local students interested in pursuing an education and career in agriculture. Of course our goal is that they’ll return to Carroll with that education and continue working to make Carroll County agriculture a successful and thriving industry,” adds Foley.
