The Rest of the Story...Over a year ago Howard County Business & Tourism was fortunate enough to work with a new, locally owned company called Cresco Fuels, Inc. Offering diesel, bio diesel, and blended ethanol options not previously offered in the Cresco area was now a reality. As Cresco Fuels is looking towards their second anniversary, it’s time now, for the rest of the story.
During the month of September 2013 alone, over $11,300 was saved by motorists using the midlevel blends E15, E20, E30 and E85. Eight short months later, the dollars saved by motorists continue to grow; this past Memorial Day, motorists saved $524 at the pump and for the month of May 2014 over $15,000 were saved by motorists. These numbers indicate that not only did motorists save, but were able to spend that “saved” money elsewhere in our community generating economic activity for our local businesses, all the while supporting a locally owned company. If you haven’t experienced the convenience of the
24-hour, pay-at-the-pump at Cresco Fuels; remember that the EPA approved E15 for all vehicles 2001 and newer so start enjoying the savings yourself.
Economists say that a local dollar will turn over seven times within a community. Doing the math, this translates into $184,100 for these two months alone circulating throughout the area by using the blended ethanol options we now have access to. And, this doesn’t include bio-diesel or the economic impact for the extra value of the corn and soybeans local farmers grew and sold to make these renewable fuels. When you buy locally owned ethanol products, the benefits go on and on, one gallon at a time. And now you know the rest of the story.
