This class is for business owners who are tired of marketing that feels exhausting, awkward, or expensive—and want a better way forward.

Drawing from real-world experience building businesses from scratch, this class focuses on low-cost, high-impact marketing strategies rooted in human connection, clarity of message, and community presence. Participants will learn how to generate momentum without paid ads, gimmicks, or tactics that feel inauthentic.

Rather than chasing trends, this class teaches simple, repeatable ideas that work for small and local businesses—especially those looking to grow through relationships, referrals, and reputation.

Attendees will leave with practical ideas they can use immediately, a clearer understanding of what marketing actually works for them, and renewed confidence that growing a business doesn’t have to feel soul-sucking or financially draining.


Tim Rist

Tim Rist is an interesting character.  Somehow, despite his outrageous and eccentric personality, he has been trusted by over 700 families over the last 12 years to broker their real estate goals, including the City of Corvallis. He is also a real estate developer, founder of Discover Oregon Real Estate and D( )RE Developments. He brings over a decade of strategic investing experience in both business and real estate, with a focus on sustainable, people-first growth.

Tim is also a lifelong Corvallis community member—born at Good Sam a graduate of Oregon State University at age 19, and currently raising his family in Corvallis. His work is deeply rooted in the belief that strong local businesses are the backbone of healthy communities.

Before real estate, at just 17 years old, Tim started building and scaling a painting business from the ground up using grassroots marketing—with no ad spend, no paid leads, and no marketing budget. That early experience shaped how he later grew real estate teams, brokerages, and development projects by relying on his 10C approach rather than expensive or flashy marketing tactics.

Today, Tim is known for teaching practical, human-centered approaches to growth that help businesses gain traction without burnout, hype, or unnecessary spending.
