The Steamboat Era Museum will be presenting the 2025 Second Saturday Speaker Series beginning January 11th at 2:00 pm, and continuing until April12th.
January 11 - Commander Greg Kirkbride will present "America's Tall Ship - the Coast Guard Barque EAGLE." Commander Kirkbride sailed on three cadet training cruises aboard the EAGLE.
February 8 - Author Jack Shaum will discuss his book "122 Years on the Old Bay Line," from the luxurious accommodations to wartime service. Mr. Shaum will share his wealth of knowledge about these beautiful and hardworking boats.
March 8 - Historian and author of "Gone to God: A Civil War Family's Ultimate Sacrifice," Keieth Kehlbeck will speak on "Steamboats During the Civil War." Steamboats and their crews were essential for supply runs and participation in multiple battles.
April 12 - Historian and author, RIchard Covngton will discuss his book "Northern Neck Fishing Steamers Go to War: Turning Fishboats into Warship," a forgotten and harrowing story of the constripted menhaden fishing boats and their crews during WWI.
