Westside Union School District, with its central office located in West Lancaster, has an enrollment of approximately 9,000 students from Kindergarten through 8th Grade. There are six elementary schools which consist of Kindergarten through 6th grade, two middle schools which consist of 7th and 8th grades and three schools which consist of Kindergarten through 8th grade.
Currently, there are 390 teachers in the District and a support staff of 400 ranging from teacher's aides to custodians. The overall operation of the School District is managed by the Superintendent of Schools.
The District covers approximately 346 square miles square miles in North Los Angeles County. The communities served are West Lancaster, Quartz Hill, West Palmdale, and Leona Valley. A caring, supportive, and motivating learning environment is evident throughout the schools. Student's individual needs are considered in their class placement, as well as their needs to attain grade-level performance standards. Planning a program to ensure each student's school success is the goal! A positive school climate that helps ensure student progress is maintained at all schools. Active parent participation is encouraged through the PTA, School Site Councils, School Advisory Councils, parent volunteer programs and the West Antelope Valley Educational Trust Foundation (WAVE).
