Richards Tree Service, Inc.

Since 1957, Richard’s Tree Service has been answering the call for expert tree care throughout Northern California. From residential services to large-scale commercial projects, Richard’s Tree Service is known as the safe, professional, environmentally friendly tree care provider for your area.

Believe it or not, Richard's Tree Service all started as a side job. Back in 1957, Founder, Richard Graham, started trimming trees a few Saturdays per month so his wife could stay home with their children. Word started to get around, and the side job started becoming more regular, and even a bit overwhelming. Richard decided to turn the business into a full-time venture.

Thru the years the business became a true family business…employing his wife, his son, his daughters, his son-in-laws and grandchildren. Upon Richard’s retirement in 1998 he turned his thriving business completely over to his son and son-in-law, Mark and Fred. And, his wife, Joyce, still oversees the financials of the company. All three have never forgotten what made Richard’s Tree Service successful from the start - solid customer relationships. The company has grown to become the largest tree service provider in the area and customer service is still the #1 priority at Richard’s Tree Service. It isn't just expressed in the personalized care that each customer receives. It's also expressed in the company's commitment to education. We know our customers rely on us to have the answers, so we make sure our staff is educated and prepared. In all, we employ three arborists, all certified by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). We maintain rigorous standards of continued education to make sure that our information is constantly in line with the latest science of the industry.

In 2005, we began to diversify our services by providing tub grinding, land clearing and orchard removal services. We are also licensed with the State of California, Integrated Waste Management as a licensed compost facility.

Our company now serves Northern California communities with a staff of over 30 and a fleet of more than 50 vehicles & equipment including cranes, lift trucks, dump trucks, belt trailers, stump grinders, excavators, front-end loaders, skidders, etc. The future looks very promising for Richard's Tree Service as we continue to grow and increase the value of our services. We're confident that our future in Northern California is secure, as long as we continue to operate on our simple formula for success.

Customer Protection

There's no shortage of tree care providers in the Northern California area - just open up the yellow pages. But it takes more than a chainsaw to do the job right. Choosing the wrong company can put your trees and yard, your pocketbook, your home and your family at risk. Here are a couple questions to ask when selecting a tree care professional:

Do they have proof of insurance?

You may not realize it, but if a company you hire doesn't have workers' compensation insurance, you're responsible for any injuries that happen on your property. Your homeowner's insurance won't cover injuries to hired help. But still an alarming number of so called “Professional” tree care providers operate day-to-day without the proper coverage.

Richard’s Tree Service carries both worker's compensation insurance and general liability insurance for your peace of mind. While our crew is the safest team of tree care pros in the area, we understand that accidents can happen and we don't expect our customers to be liable for them.

What are their qualifications?

Over the years, you've probably grown attached to your surroundings. There's something comfortable and familiar in the outdoor environment of your home. So when you decide to have work done, it's important to know that you're working with a qualified tree care provider that is committed to the industry and the task at hand.

Richard’s Tree Service takes employee training and safety seriously. We employ Certified Arborists and Certified Tree Workers that have earned certification from the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). These certifications must be maintained thru the ISA via continuing education units every three years.

Are they a licensed contractor with the State of California?

Before you decide to have work done, it's important to know that if you will be working with a valid, licensed contractor. Richard’s Tree Service holds license #608859 which is a specialty contractor license under the classification of D-49 Tree Service with the Contractors State License Board.

California State Law requires anyone who contracts to do construction work to be licensed by the Contractors State License Board in the license category in which the contractor is going to be working--If the total price of the job is $500 or more (including labor and materials). Licensed contractors are regulated by laws designed to protect the public. If you contract with someone who does not have a license, the Contractors State License Board may be unable to assist you with your complaint. Your only remedy against an unlicensed contractor may be in civil court, and you may be liable for damages arising out of any injuries to the unlicensed contractor or his or her employees.

There really is a difference in tree care providers. Not everyone who owns a hammer can build a house. The same goes for chainsaws and tree care. Your yard and trees are an important part of your home. Make sure they're well taken care of with the tree care pros at Richard’s Tree Service.
