The Monastery of the Holy Martyrs - Syriac Orthodox is a faith-rooted community committed to serving Christ through works of compassion, dignity, and justice. Our ministry is carried out by Orthodox Workers, many of whom are dependencies of the Monastery and have personally experienced homelessness or housing insecurity. Guided by lived experience and deep faith, we walk alongside individuals and groups, helping them advocate for themselves and reclaim their voice, stability, and hope.
We serve those who are often unseen in society: the homeless and near-homeless, the unemployed and underemployed, battered women, the untreated mentally ill, and those struggling to survive with limited means. We recognize in each person the presence of Christ, the Suffering Servant, and we welcome all whom Christ brings to our doors or whom He sends us to meet on the streets. Our table is open to everyone, Christians, Jews, Muslims, atheists, and people of all backgrounds and beliefs because our calling is simple and unwavering: to serve all, with humility, respect, and love.
