Southwest Folklife Alliance Inc. (SFA) is a nonprofit affiliate of the University of Arizona, housed within the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Dedicated to the preservation, presentation, and celebration of Arizona’s diverse folklife and traditional arts, SFA serves as a statewide resource connecting communities, scholars, and cultural practitioners.
The Jim Griffith Chair in Public Folklore at the Southwest Center and the University of Arizona School of Anthropology serves as the lead curator for SFA programs and activities, ensuring academic rigor and community-centered engagement. SFA is the Arizona Commission on the Arts’ designated State Partner for Folk Arts for the National Endowment for the Arts and works in close partnership with traditional and folklife communities across Arizona to document, support, and amplify living cultural traditions.
