Easterday Construction Co., Inc. traces its roots back to the 1920s, originating as a subsidiary of James I. Barnes Construction of Logansport, Indiana, a firm with operations spanning Indiana, Ohio, and California. During this early period, Barnes Construction played a significant role in projects for Culver Military Academy, establishing a strong presence in the Culver community and laying the groundwork for what would become a lasting local construction legacy.

The company’s evolution is closely tied to Russell L. Easterday, who transitioned from a career in education to full-time construction, steadily advancing from laborer to job foreman. As work in Culver expanded, Russell was selected to lead the newly formed Culver Division, officially establishing the Russell L. Easterday Construction & Supply Company. With offices first located in downtown Culver and operations centered at the family farm on Slate Street, the company grew alongside the community it served. Today, that same Slate Street location remains the home of Easterday Construction Co., Inc., reflecting a proud heritage of craftsmanship, leadership, and commitment to the region.
