Rooted in the heritage of a fifth-generation Oregon ranching family, Freebridge Brewing is a celebration of legacy, craftsmanship, and community. Founders Steve Light and Laurie Petroff-Light bring to life a dream inspired by the pioneering spirit of their ancestors whose journey on the Oregon Trail led them to the banks of the Deschutes River near the historic Freebridge. From their family’s working farm and cattle operation in the Fifteen Mile Creek Valley to the creation of a brewery that honors Oregon’s rugged roots, the Lights have woven together history, hard work, and heartfelt passion into every pint.
Housed in The Mint, one of The Dalles’ most historically significant buildings, Freebridge Brewing bridges past and present through its craft. Originally intended as a U.S. Mint authorized by President Abraham Lincoln in 1864, the building now serves as a space where “liquid gold” is brewed and shared. Restored with care and rich with local folklore, Freebridge Brewing embodies the enduring spirit of the Columbia River Gorge a place where stories, history, and great beer come together.
