The Crested Butte Nordic Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering outdoor experiences and community well-being through exceptional winter programs, events, and trails. Since 1987, we’ve maintained 55 kilometers of scenic cross-country ski and snowshoe trails around the Town of Crested Butte, creating opportunities for residents and visitors alike to connect with the beauty of our natural surroundings. Guided by our mission of accessibility, inclusivity, and fun, we strive to set the standard for outdoor winter recreation and provide meaningful ways for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the Nordic lifestyle.
Through strong partnerships with local governments, agencies, and landowners, Crested Butte Nordic ensures continued access to world-class groomed trails and diverse community programming. From youth and adult ski lessons to outreach initiatives with local organizations, our offerings encourage participation, connection, and adventure. We proudly host iconic events such as the Alley Loop Nordic Marathon, the Grand Traverse Race Series, and the Grin & Bear It Trail Run, as well as unique experiences like backcountry dining at the Magic Meadows Yurt-all celebrating the spirit of winter and the vibrant community that makes Crested Butte truly special.
