Gunnison County Electric Association
Home

Gunnison County Electric Association (GCEA) is a member-owned, non-profit rural electric cooperative dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, and affordable energy to the Gunnison Valley. Founded on September 21, 1938, by local ranchers who shared a vision of bringing electricity to their community, GCEA energized its first lines in 1941. Today, the cooperative continues to uphold that pioneering spirit by providing innovative energy solutions and maintaining a strong commitment to service, safety, and sustainability for its members.

As a true cooperative, GCEA operates for the benefit of its members, not for profit. Any operating margins are returned to members as capital credits, reflecting the cooperative’s financial health and shared success. Members actively shape the future of GCEA through participation in board elections, monthly meetings, and the Annual Meeting each June. With a proud history and a forward-focused mission, GCEA continues to power progress and strengthen the connections that make the Gunnison Valley thrive.
