Founded in 1985 by Bernard Carey and the late Carl D’Aquila, H & L Mesabi has been a trusted provider of premium wear products and ground-engaging tools for over three decades. Headquartered in Hibbing, MN, we began by serving the taconite mines of Northeast Minnesota’s Mesabi Iron Range and quickly established a reputation as a leader in mining supplies.

Our commitment to quality and innovation led to significant growth, including becoming an Associated Equipment Distributor (AED) in 1988. This milestone expanded our reach beyond mining to serve construction, aggregate processing, and governmental clients throughout Minnesota. By 1990, we opened our Metro Division in Blaine, MN, which now supplies over 3,000 customers annually with top-tier wear products.

In 1994, we extended our operations to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, catering to local iron and copper mining, governmental municipalities, construction, aggregate processing, and the forest industry from our Negaunee, MI, facility.

Today, H & L Mesabi operates from three thriving facilities, supported by a team with over 235 years of combined experience in the ground-engaging business. Our knowledgeable staff, loyal customers, and partnerships with quality manufacturers continue to drive our success.
