Kingfisher Bay Marina
Kingfisher Bay Marina began as the vision of two men, Arthur Taylor and Fred Hansard. Years ago, the land where the marina now stands was just a field used by a local farmer. Driven by their shared dream, the two had the field's sand tested for quality, discovering that it was ideal for the local cement plant. This revelation led to the initial phase of their venture—selling sand to the plant. Over time, as the hole grew larger and deeper, they introduced dredging operations. By March 2017, the first phase of the marina’s development was complete, marking the transition from sand extraction to a thriving waterfront.
The groundwork for Kingfisher Bay Marina officially began with permit applications in early 2010, followed by the start of construction later that year. The initial focus was on building the bulkhead, followed by the docks and a new travel lift pier. On July 15, 2010, the first boats entered the marina, and by September, facilities like the boaters’ laundry, restrooms, showers, and a social area with a wet bar and flat-screen TV were ready for use. The marina now offers a welcoming space for boaters traveling along the Tenn-Tom Waterway, providing a comfortable spot to relax, watch a game, and enjoy the marina's amenities. Visitors are always encouraged to stop by and experience the beauty of Kingfisher Bay Marina firsthand.
