Somerset County Democratic Committee Black Caucus
The Somerset County Democratic Committee Black Caucus was established in January 2015 by Will Minggia and Shanel Robinson, who convened the inaugural meeting, and elected officers, and passed a resolution to rename the organization from the Somerset County Democratic Committee African American Caucus. This change aimed to embrace the entire African diaspora and ensure that no person of color in Somerset County was excluded. With a steadfast commitment to inclusivity, the Caucus has since dedicated itself to fostering open and positive communication among the Black community, the business sector, and the Democratic Party of Somerset.
Our mission is to ensure that the concerns of the Black community are neither overlooked nor unresolved within the Somerset County Democratic Party. We envision a unified Somerset County where individuals of African descent and their allies collaborate to advocate for Black issues and promote Black candidates for public office. As a central hub for addressing critical community matters, the Caucus emphasizes the significance of issues affecting the lives, education, and economic development of Black residents. Through our advocacy and support, we strive to advance our community and ensure a more equitable and inclusive future for all.
