The Children's Cabinet
Established in 1985, The Children's Cabinet is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children while keeping families together. Through collaborative efforts between the private sector and public agencies in Nevada, The Children’s Cabinet addresses unmet needs in the community with innovative solutions. Founded on the vision of Reno businessman Michael Dermody and Family Court Judge Charles McGee, the organization has grown to serve over 11,000 families annually across six locations in Reno, Carson City, Las Vegas, and Elko.
At the core of The Children’s Cabinet's approach is a commitment to fostering partnerships and collaboration among diverse stakeholders. By convening public officials, business leaders, and community members, the organization develops tailored programs and services to address the evolving needs of children and families. These initiatives range from parenting education and family counseling to crisis intervention and support services for former foster care youth, all delivered with a focus on innovation and sustainability.
As a non-profit agency, The Children’s Cabinet relies on the support of the community to offer vital programs and services at no cost to those in need. Through its comprehensive suite of initiatives, including Safe Place, which provides 24/7 support for youth facing violence or exploitation, the organization continues to make a significant impact on the lives of children and families in Nevada. With gratitude for the generosity of its supporters, The Children’s Cabinet remains committed to its mission of creating a safer, stronger future for the community it serves.
