Welcome to the Stewart County Prevention Coalition, the driving force behind the Stewart County Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention. Our mission is twofold: to combat and eradicate underage drug and alcohol use while concurrently fortifying the overall safety and well-being of our community.

At the Stewart County Prevention Coalition, we are dedicated to providing a comprehensive range of services tailored to empower individuals, both young and adult, towards a life of health and vitality. Our offerings span Prevention Services, Intervention Information, and Referral, as well as Recovery Resources and Referral.
Our Goals
1. Alcohol Misuse Prevention:
- Educating youth, parents, and young adults on the repercussions of alcohol use and social hosting.
- Partnering with local law enforcement for retail compliance checks.
- Ensuring retailers' staff are well-trained in responsible carding.
- Collaborating with local beer boards to establish effective policies preventing alcohol sales to minors.
2. Prescription Medication Misuse Prevention:
- Empowering youth, parents, young adults, and community members against prescription drug misuse and abuse.
- Advocating for the secure storage of prescription medications through our complimentary lock boxes.
- Encouraging proper disposal of unused prescription medications at designated drop-off points in the county.
- Promoting the use of the Controlled Substance Monitoring Database (CSMD) among medical professionals.
- Hosting biannual Drug Take Back events for the safe incineration of prescription medications.
3. Tobacco, E-cigarette, and Vaping Prevention:
- Educating youth, parents, young adults, and the community about the consequences of product use.
- Advocating the Tennessee Tobacco Quitline as a valuable resource.
- Coordinating with local law enforcement for retail compliance checks.
- Ensuring retailers' staff are proficient in carding procedures.
4. Capacity Strengthening:
- Cultivating cultural competency and ethical awareness.
- Nurturing leadership development.
- Engaging in strategic planning for sustainable growth.
- Mobilizing the community for a united front against substance abuse.
- Fostering the next generation of leaders and change-makers in substance abuse prevention.
5. Data-Driven Impact:
- Enhancing the data management and systems infrastructure to enable evidence-based decision-making.
- Conducting a comprehensive community assessment to broaden data accessibility for programmatic efficacy within Stewart County.
