Kathy Barker Portraits
After completing my formal education at Wimbledon School of Art, where I obtained a BA Honors degree in Fine Art (painting) and a Master of Art in Printmaking, I was fortunate to receive a studio at the Florence Trust in London. Subsequently, I had the opportunity to write a book titled "Drawing and Painting the Clothed Figure," which was published in 2005. You can find more details about this on my blog.
As my career advanced, I found my true passion in portraiture and decided to further my studies at the Charles Cecil Studio in Florence, Italy, following the atelier tradition. Alongside my portrait painting work, I am currently serving as a Postgraduate drawing tutor at West Dean College, which is part of the Edward James Foundation.
Throughout my professional journey, I have exhibited my artwork at prestigious shows such as the Royal Society of Portrait Painting and the annual exhibitions of the Society of Women Artists. Additionally, since 2019, I have been regularly contributing articles to The Artist magazine, which can be viewed here.
