Cardwell Hill Cellars

Cardwell Hill Cellars, located in Philomath, Oregon, is situated along the southernmost slope of Cardwell Hill. The vineyard spans a total of 57 acres, with 38 acres currently dedicated to the cultivation of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris vines. Notably, 85% of the plantings consist of Pinot Noir.

The region experiences an average annual rainfall of approximately 40 inches, which naturally provides a steady supply of water that permeates deep into the ground at higher elevations and gradually trickles down the slopes throughout the summer months. Leveraging this natural subterranean moisture flow, Cardwell Hill Cellars employs a "dry farming" approach to grape cultivation.

The team at Cardwell Hill Cellars takes great care to adhere to environmentally friendly practices and sustainable agricultural techniques in all aspects of grape cultivation. Owner Dan Chapel proudly emphasizes their commitment to sustainability by stating that "only the juice of the grape is removed from the vineyard – all of the stems, skins, seeds and cuttings are cultivated back into the land."

Furthermore, Cardwell Hill has earned certifications as both "Salmon Safe" and "LIVE", demonstrating their dedication to meeting or exceeding rigorous standards set forth by these esteemed grower organizations.

With meticulous attention to detail and a steadfast commitment to environmental stewardship, Cardwell Hill Cellars continues to produce high-quality wine grapes while prioritizing sustainability every step of the way. Their dedication to preserving and nurturing their land ensures that they can continue producing exceptional wines for years to come.
