A new funeral home has opened its doors in the Cyper City area of Live Oak Florida. The grand opening of the Marcus A. Allen Funeral Home was an epic affair on Sunday, March 6, 2022 with such distinguished guests as Live Oak’s Mayor Frank C. Davis, County Commissioner Clyde Fields and City Council Woman Lynda Owens Williams. This highly-anticipated, epic event was well attended by many community supporters, family, and friends of the Marcus A. Allen Funeral Home.
The President and Visionary, Marcus A. Allen, acknowledges that he was destined for the funeral home business from an early age. According to his mother, Mahaila Allen, a retired educator of Suwannee County, “As a little boy, Marcus was fascinated when funeral processions would ride by throughout the city.” Marcus started working for the late Mr. Charles and Mrs. Louise Hall when he was 13 years old as their staff musician. He also worked alongside his God-Father, Bishop Henry Smart at the Bennie L. Thomas Funeral Home. After graduating in 1995 from Suwannee County High School, Marcus began his career in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he worked and managed some of the most prestigious funeral homes in Philadelphia. He later opened his own funeral homes in both Philadelphia and South New Jersey.
Marcus stated, “It was always my dream to open a funeral home in my hometown, and for years I searched for the best opportunity to live out this dream. While I looked at several properties throughout Live Oak, when I found the property of 619 Houston Avenue NW, formally known as the old Bumper to Bumper store ran by the Hale family, I knew that this was going to be the location of the Marcus A. Allen Funeral Home.”
Marcus A. Allen is the President and his sister, Dr. LaTeesa A. Allen, also a native of Live Oak, Florida, is the Vice President. They look forward to serving Suwannee and Surrounding Counties with the Dignity and Respect that your loved ones deserve while providing Signature Service and building relationships One Family at a time.
