John Martinez is a self-proclaimed “relationship maker”. In his current role as Director for Public affairs and Business Development for Sombra Professional Therapy Products he is responsible for brand enhancement, public relations and community engagement, as well as the growth of the company. Sombra is expanding to a new 14-acre facility in SE Albuquerque where they will focus on the New Mexico hand sanitizer line.
In his previous roles, John served as the Public Affairs Director for Delta Dental of New Mexico, and the New Mexico Attorney General. He has made a positive impact on the community because of his ability to collaborate and establish relationships. John also served as the Chief Executive Officer for NM-811 and Deputy Cabinet Secretary for the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Rounding out John’s diverse background is his experience as the State Telecommunications Director and Executive Director for US West Communications.
John is actively involved as a Board member of the National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation Board, and the New Mexico chapter of Infragard - this is a FBI-sponsored organization focused on protecting the Nation’s critical infrastructure.
John is a graduate of Denver University’s Center for Program Management.
John and his wife Carol have been happily married 41 years and have two amazing adult children and four beautiful grandchildren.
