Originally called The Breeze, Clay Today has a long and rich history in Clay County Florida. Renamed Clay Today in 1968, the paper was published Tuesday through Saturday primarily in the Orange Park area by motor route carrier.
Clay Today purchased the Clay County Crescent weekly newspaper in the early 1990s. This purchase allowed a broader base of circulation throughout all of Clay County. The Crescent and Clay Today staff were combined to form one distinct paper for the entire county.
Now serving the growing communities of Orange Park, Middleburg, Penney Farms, Keystone Heights, Green Cove Springs, Lake Asbury, Doctors Inlet, Fleming Island, and Argyle, the Clay Today is a complete local community newspaper published, mailed, and carrier-delivered every Thursday morning.
In each edition of the Clay Today, you will find a heavy emphasis on local news, sports, and special features, plus timely advertising from the area's retail stores. The newspaper is without a doubt the primary newspaper in Clay County Florida. Each issue varies from 40 to 70 pages.
In November of 2007, we purchased the Clay County Leader. We currently deliver as a free community newspaper weekends at over 50 outlets and aggressively directly mail to homes in Pace Island, Fleming Island Plantation, Eagle Harbor, Margaret's Walk, Magnolia Point, and the Ravines. Combined with Clay Today, we reach 31,200 readers weekly. Clay County Readers recognize the Clay Today as the primary newspaper for the county and look to it for news and advertising items and specials.
