The park is named for the Boetto family, who resided in the Henry Wickenburg Home nearby. John Boetto (1874-1957) was an immigrant from northern Italy who arrived in Wickenburg in 1907. In 1913, he purchased the adobe house at 225 S. Washington St., which was built by Henry Wickenburg in 1903. Mr. Boetto was the first chief of the Wickenburg Volunteer Fire Department.
